Gilbert Jackson received his BA and Masters degrees from Michigan State University in music education. He taught music for twenty years in the Pontiac School District at Washington Junior and Pontiac Central High Schools. He earned a second Masters' degree  in educational supervision and administration and in 1984 his PHd from Michigan State University. He has recently retired from teaching in the Troy Public School District.
